‘I was expressing my beliefs – does that mean I can’t perform?’

2 October 2019

Talented Christian actress, Seyi Omooba, was hounded out of her promising West End career for a post she made on Facebook in 2014.

The post cited what the Bible says about homosexuality, the need for repentance and God’s love for all humanity. Seyi was set to perform in the lead role of Celie, in the musical The Color Purple, until her post was dug out over four years later and she was deemed to be ‘hypocritical’. As a result, she was quickly dropped by the theatre and her contract with her agency was terminated.

Now, after months of silence, Seyi tells her story to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.
