Recently, several Church of England bishops have come out in support of blessings for same-sex ‘marriages’. The message told to us by our society is that love is all about self-satisfaction and self-fulfilment. We are told to be ‘true to ourselves’, ‘be who we want to be’.

But the Christian vision for love is modelled on Christ’s self-sacrifice. This is the ‘greater love’ to which God calls us, and it has profoundly positive effects for marriage, the family and wider society.

The Greater Love Conference is based around the Greater Love Declaration – a new short declaration signed by Christian ministers and pastoral workers across the UK, which reaffirms the historic Christian understanding of love as described in John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”

The Greater Love Conference will help equip those who lead and work in churches to understand and explain this challenging, yet wonderfully positive, vision of love. It will explore the consequences of undermining the Christian view of marriage and family. And it will explain how we can play our part in opposing any further attempts to undermine Christian teaching in UK law, especially looking at current calls to ban so-called ‘conversion therapy’.

Join us there, as our Wilberforce Development Officer, Ben John, will be speaking on a guest panel, answering questions and speaking on why the Biblical model of love is the only true way.
