Simon Pearson

Simon lost his job as a teacher for Facebook posts unfairly branded as ‘Islamophobic’

Overview

  • Simon Pearson was a teacher for 20 years with an unblemished record
  • In July 2024, he made two private Facebook posts raising his concerns about two-tier justice and the violent assault of police officers at Manchester Airport that had been in the news
  • In August, an Islamic representative of the National Education Union submitted a formal complaint to Preston College, where Simon worked, alleging that the Facebook posts were ‘Islamophobic’ and ‘racially discriminatory’.
  • Simon was then suspended, investigated, and dismissed for gross misconduct.
  • In August 2025, Simon first shared his story with the public, having launched a legal claim challenging his treatment with the help of the Christian Legal Centre.
