Oluwole Ilesanmi

Oluwole Ilesanmi was arrested and then dropped off miles away by police without the means to get home after preaching in Southgate.

A video clip was watched by millions of people around the world in Februrary 2019, showing London street preacher Oluwole Ilesanmi being arrested for ‘breaching the peace’. Police say that a complaint had been made that Oluwole had been ‘Islamophobic’.

He was subsequently taken miles away from the scene, de-arrested, being left with no means to get home. When questioned about this, Met Police said that he had only been taken 200m away – a claim shown to be false by the bus ticket that Oluwole kept from the journey home, paid for by a member of the public.

A petition was then launched in support of Oluwole, seeking to raise awareness among police of the freedom to preach Christ publicly in the UK.
