‘Bunyan is to Bedford what Shakespeare is to Stratford’

25 October 2019

The nonconformist pastor and author John Bunyan is best known for his beloved allegory The Pilgrim’s Progress – one of the most influential works in English literature.

Now, his famous story has been brought to the silver screen in a new and beautifully animated movie.

Born around Bedford, his classic work is now to be screened in the town – although so far, only one screening has been agreed to by the town’s cinemas. Former Wilberforce Academy delegate Stephen Briggs speaks to BBC Three Counties Radio about why it’s so important to tell this story.
