Prisons should respect the 'self-identified gender' of inmates, says report

Transgender criminals may soon be able to serve their sentences in the prison of their choice, under new official guidance.

The new policy for England and Wales will also require prisons to respect the "self-identified gender" of inmates and ensure they have access to items that will "enable their gender expressions", such as hair dye and makeup.

The news follows a Ministerial review into prisons after the apparent suicides of two transgender inmates who were sent to male prisons, last year.
 

'Must always be able to live as the gender that they wish'

The review into the current policy of UK prisons concluded that too much emphasis was placed on an inmates' gender at birth, whether they had undergone 'sex-change' surgery, or had a 'gender recognition certificate'.

The guidance goes on to say that to avoid "distress and harm", the starting point should be what gender an inmate identifies as.

It admits "that it will not always be possible to place transgender inmates in the prison they want", but says inmates "must always be able to live as the gender that they wish."

In the UK, the number of people who have obtained a gender recognition certificate to 'change' gender is under 4,000. There are roughly 80,000 prisoners in England and Wales in a population of about 53 million.
 

Just another example

This is just another example of the government capitulating to the LGBQTI agenda; imposing an ideology on the rest of society.

This is particularly disturbing when the ideology is being imposed on the innocence of our children. Eighty state schools have changed their uniform policy to take advantage of a government funded 'gender neutral' dress code.

Many schools are believed to be basing their policy on a draft uniform policy from LGBT charity Educate and Celebrate, which was  recently allocated £200,000 of government funds from the Department of Education to train teachers across the country training in being more LGBT-inclusive.
