Christian bakers await court decision

Printer-friendly version

Ashers Baking Company, which refused to bake a cake in support of same-sex 'marriage', is now awaiting a decision after its hearing concluded in Belfast last month.

David Scoffield QC, who represented the family who run the bakery, said that making the cake would have gone against the McArthur family's "deeply held religious beliefs". A recent poll showed that over 90 per cent of people in Northern Ireland say that equality laws shouldn't force people to "say something they oppose".
