Healthy woman ends life at Swiss clinic

Dr Peter Saunders discusses the morality of assisted suicide on ITV News London

Printer-friendly version

Gill Pharaoh, 75, who specialised in nursing the elderly, recently ended her life at a Swiss suicide clinic. She said that she did "not think that old age is fun" and that "old people are a burden on society".

Dr Michael Irwin, an assisted suicide campaigner, admitted to helping Mrs Pharaoh with her plans to die. "Dr Irwin appears to be in flagrant breach of the DPP’s guidelines. This case is deeply shocking," said Andrea Williams.

Dr Peter Saunders debated Dr Irwin on ITV London.
