Further information:
There are four Christian churches in Ashtead, two Anglican, one Catholic and one Baptist.  Each month, normally on the third Saturday, the men of all these churches meet together for breakfast and a talk. By rotation meetings are held in the halls of all the churches.

Beginning at 8 o’clock with a prayer and, very importantly, a joke or two from our chef, we look forward to cereals, bacon sandwiches, toast and marmalade with a vegetarian option. The eating is over by 8.45 when our speaker is invited to take over. Our aim is to be finished at 9.30 so we can return to our families.

Usually our speakers are invited to address current moral or social issues, challenging and perhaps showing us a course of action. We try to group talks by themes such as children’s problems or homelessness. Sometimes, such as our pre-Christmas meeting, the emphasis is solely on Christian fellowship and enjoyment.
